Welcome to Glittering Shards

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the World Wide Web! I’m Concetta Perôt, a mosaic artist and mental health specialist from London, UK.

I fell in love with mosaics 25 years ago and began creating my own mosaic art, which eventually grew into a thriving art studio, Glittering Shards. You can read more about the meaning behind Glittering Shards in the About Me page.

This site showcases my art. It is also dedicated to providing inspiration and resources for anyone interested in this beautiful art form, and in particular, the connection between mosaic making and wellbeing. From the blog, you can easily search for tutorials and resources on a wide range of topics such as step-by-step projects, community mosaics, mosaics with children and mosaics for wellbeing.

For over 10 years, I exhibited, taught mosaics in my home studio, ran community mosaic events and was commissioned to create many pieces for others, including for the 50th anniversary of the national tile company, Topps Tiles. It was during this time, when I was raising my young family, that I developed ways of bringing mosaic making to young children. My work in this field was taken up by schools, running mosaic projects in children's social care, running a mosaic making workshop at London's St. Paul's Cathedral and some of my tutorials were also featured in national publications. You can find these children's mosaic making tutorials and also my community work projects in the blog.

As a result of these experiences, I developed a keen interest in the connection between mosaics, creative expression and well-being. You can visit the link to my online exhibition, Behind the Glass, to explore this more.

Today, I am a psychotherapist in private practice, often utilising creative and mindfulness-based methods to support human growth and recovery from trauma (find me at www.concettaperot.com).

My aim is to keep creating! Both artful and soulful mosaics and other art forms, simply for the love of it!

Learn mosaics with me & mark a significant life event!

Whilst I am not currently running regular mosaic classes, I am now providing bespoke "THERAPEUTIC MOSAIC DAYS" days in London to support people who wish to mark life transitions, loss, change, trauma recovery and personal growth, all within a supportive therapeutic atmosphere. No prior experience of mosaic making is necessary so if this is of interest to you, do get in touch and we can explore the possibilities. You can also sign up to receive my occasional newsletters using the sign up box at the end of the "Mosaics & Wellbeing Resources" page.
